NEW YORK — Fast food ranks No. 1 in the fast food fast food rankings for the first time, according to data released by The NPD Group on Monday.
The rankings for fast food have been based on food sales per million people for five consecutive quarters.
Fast food sales are up in 2017, but are down for the year, as consumers move away from hamburger and other fast food and back to hamburger.
The ranking is based on a total of 2,000 sales per month, including both restaurant and bar sales.
The NPA data showed that the top three places on the rankings for sales per person are McDonald’s, Burger King and Domino’s.
